We just put up a new blog at www.aeonmagazine.com/weblog.html. It's an undisguised and unapologetic rant. Check it out.

Wed, June 15, 2005 - 9:24 PMI for one appreciated the rant -- but perhaps I'm biased. And you had been supportive of their site in the Aeon links as well. A damned shame. Enjoy! Tom. -

Thu, June 16, 2005 - 1:06 PMWell, it's all in who they decide to give the review copy to. I mean, anyone who thinks "Just Chutney" is a cooking story...? And he said "The Garuda Bird" was "Too Bollywood for me." Hello? Rod? It was all ABOUT Bollywood. Bollywood cubed with a side of raga rock. Just between you and me and everyone on this tribe, I don't think the guy ought to be reviewing anything. -

Sat, June 18, 2005 - 4:13 PMReminds me of a rejection I got once (not from Aeon!) that picked on every speculative element as "not believable." -

Re: Rant Alert
Tue, June 28, 2005 - 1:42 PMGreat rant. It mirrors so much of what frustrations await anyone trying to push the genre envelopes in almost any dimension, as does Aeon. There seems to be a kind of Genre Police mentality lurking in wait and then lurching forth to swat at anyone unfortunate enough to stray into such uncomfortable regions as belief.
Genre all too easily becomes industry-driven censorship.
In our efforts to divide the pie among so many, we need to bake more, bigger, and tastier pies, not cut today's pie in smaller pieces.
